For the first time this season, senior goaltender Jake Kucharski was named NCHC Goaltender of the Week as part of the NCHC Players of the Week for the Week of Oct. 10-16, 2022. Kucharski transferred to UNO after playing two seasons for American International College. AIC had the best goals against average (GAA) in the Atlantic Hockey Association last season, and Kucharski had the second best GAA (2.41) in the conference. Kucharski allowed a lone goal in the Oct. 14 game at Lake Superior State, helping Omaha secure a 3-1 victory. In relief duty during the Saturday game (after UNO gave up 4 goals during the first period), Kurcharski stifled the Lakers, allowing no goals, and had a solid performance in net as the Mavericks salvaged a 4-4 tie in overtime. >> Kucharksi’s performance was also discussed on this week’s episode of the #mavpuckcast — click here to view this week’s episode.
