MavPuck.com began in January 2000 as a fan site dedicated to the University of Nebraska at Omaha Maverick Hockey team. The site is neither affiliated with nor endorsed by UNO. 

The dedication to the program and university by the owners of the site (and its followers on various social media platforms) ranks among the best in Omaha.

The owners — Jon and Bridget Brooks — have been season ticket holders since day one, and have never missed a home UNO Hockey game during the program's history.

Since the site began, many changes have happened in the rapidly evolving world of the Internet. As audience preferences have changed, MavPuck has moved beyond its message board and has built robust followings on Twitter and Facebook. If you follow us on Twitter, you can enjoy game updates (and other fun things) during each UNO Hockey game. We also recently started a MavPuck Instagram account. 

During the 2018-19 season, we forged ahead with the “Mavpuckcast,” our weekly podcast (during the season) that features discussion about each UNO Hockey series, the fan experience, and other fun items related to the world of Omaha Maverick Hockey. In the 2021-22 season, we started the transition from an audio-only format with the transition to a video version of the podcast on our channel (with video clips, player cards, and graphics). 

In 2015, we introduced the MavPuck Blog. The blog features in-depth articles, features, current events, and analysis about the world of UNO Hockey and its place in the world of NCAA Division 1 Hockey.

In addition to our online news and information offerings, we have also organized eight bus trips to road games for UNO Hockey fans. The MavPuck.com “Bus Of Fun” has traveled to various destinations throughout the world of college hockey, including: North Dakota, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Western Michigan, MSU-Mankato, and Colorado College.
