UNO’s Taylor Ward earned his first career NCHC Player of the Month honor for his play during the program’s first eight games of the 2021-22 season. The senior forward has racked up 10 goals and six assists during the team’s 7-1-0 start. He is averaging 2.00 points per game. Two Mavericks — goalie Isaiah Saville and forward Taylor Ward — earned Bauer NCHC Player of the Week honors for the week of Oct. 25-31, 2021. Ward — a senior forward from Kelowna, B.C. — racked up five goals and three assists in a series against Long Island University on Oct. 29-30 at Omaha’s Baxter Arena. Saville — a junior netminder from Anchorage, AK — posted a shutout against LIU on Oct. 29 at Baxter Arena. He is 6-1-0 on the season, with a .931 save percentage and a 1.55 goals-against average in net. Other UNO Hockey nominees included junior defenseman Brandon Scanlin (Defenseman of the Week) and freshman defenseman Davis Pennington (Rookie of the Week). Junior goaltender Isaiah Saville earned Bauer NCHC Goaltender of the Week honors for his performance against the Alaska Nanooks on Oct. 15 and 17 at Baxter Arena. Saville led UNO to a series sweep, posting a .930 save percentage and a 1.48 goals-against average against the Nanooks. This is Saville’s second NCHC Goaltender of the Week honor this season. Junior Isaiah Saville — a consistent presence in net for the Omaha Hockey team — earned Bauer NCHC Goaltender of the Week honors to open UNO’s 2021-22 collegiate hockey campaign. In UNO’s series versus Lake Superior State on Oct. 2-3, Saville had a .907 save percentage and 1.95 goals-against average against the Lakers. He also recorded a 3-0 shutout in the Oct. 3 game.
