Hi all! Hope you had a great Christmas holiday! With the new year fast approaching, college hockey begins the second half of the season. The Omaha Mavericks (8-8-2) should be well rested and ready to get back into the swing of things. Their first series of 2020 will be a non-conference matchup with the University of Maine Black Bears of the Hockey East Association (9-8-3). The Bears are undefeated at home (6-0-1) albeit against weaker opponents, which accounts for their lackluster road record (3-8-2). Nevertheless, Maine will be a formidable opponent led by netminder Jeremy Swayman, who has a formidable .934 save percentage (10th in the nation). This game may be more of a NCHC-style meat-grinder game for the Mavericks, a perfect start for what will be a brutal rest of the season.

The Mavericks have not faced the Bears since 1998 and are 1-3 all time.

Friday’s game will be played in Orono, Maine, at 5 PM Central. Saturday’s game will be played in Portland, Maine, at the ungodly hour of 11 AM Central. Both games will be streamed live on CBS All Access (7 day free trial available) and will NOT be in your NCHC.TV package. Of course, you can always listen to the game on the radio via 1180 AM or on the TuneIn Radio app.

    Looking ahead

The Mavericks return to NCHC WARFARE next week with a pair of games against the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks.

Thanks for reading! Keep living the #nonyikes life.

Roden played extremely well, didn’t understand the tying goal, watching on my phone. All in all, an exciting game.

I'm guessing it hit the defender's stick and knuckled on 'Dusty'.
