Around the league non cons looking to position the league for pairwise leverage. Interesting. Mavs played two ‘pretty solid’ games and would have swept. Still things to work on for sure. Ward’s reaction after he scored looked like a teapot hitting steam. Glad he got the first one out of the way. Would have liked to see more of Sullivan, especially at the dot. Can’t let these guys get wide and beat the defense around the corner. Saville saved the day 3 or 4 times. PK was pretty damn awesome, even 5 on 3. Lots to be happy about though, played #12/13 even in their barn (though there was no crowd to factor in), UND & WMU will be a different story. Wisconsin series is HUGE because UMD will start to win and that will seriously affect the end of the year.

I thought there would be more comments here. I listened to Friday's game, but was in Nebraska City for Saturday, so my CHN app had to be sufficient as far as score updates.

Most predictions had Ohio State winning both games. I don't think most thought that UNO would be close for either game. They were very close for Friday and a winner on Saturday. I will admit I would not have bet on this outcome, but It doesn't seem like a fluke. I don't know what in conference will look like, but we may not be the doormats that many are predicting UNO to be.

Right now I don't think we are anywhere near the top of the NCHC either, but some of the things that need to be improved can change during the season. Make the NCHC championship game and you just need 2 wins. Once again, I wouldn't put money down, but I expected to be making excuses I don't need to make for the team because they played so well. I hope that they continue to exceed my expectations.

I was hoping to find the games on BTN+.  I don't have time or patience to listen to games on radio.  This year will depend on our goalies.  Of course we have to put the puck in the net too.  If Saville or Roden can play well, we'll surprise people.

The games were on plus, the worst video and commentary on Friday I have ever seen. Saturday was better, especially because we won. On Friday, the announcers didn’t even understand the rules. It was comical. But then again, neither did the refs...

This is common pretty much anywhere. Listening to the Denver-BC series, they had similar issues. People think it's just getting behind the mic and describing action. You need to do research.

To not know a penalty was called when a kid is skating to the box, saying the face off was for icing? This was a whole new level of incompetence!

To be fair, we don't know what level of participation the 'student run broadcast' was.

Were the broadcasters Friday students? It's pretty clear the producer was.

I also looked at BTN for Friday’s game. I found out that A) Dish network and both BTN and FSN  have settled their differences, and B) neither station had any college hockey on that night.

I listened to the game Friday .  I love Terry but this was my first time listening to the new play by play man, Donny. I have no complaints with him, he seemed to be accurate and good with his descriptions. I need to learn more of the new UNO players names, but that’s my fault. Sometimes I had no idea who had the puck because I didn’t recognize the names. But that’s my fault and not the radio announcers.

Donny has been pretty good. He stumbled a little in the UAH series with 'Smalling' (Smallidge). I'd also advise him to avoid odd terms like 'half wall' (where is the full wall?).

But let's be honest. Donny is a vast improvement over Ahlers -- who was over excitable, and never had transition play -- and just about everyone else we're exposed to in internet broadcasts.

There is a little room for improvement. But we also know he's learning the game on the fly.

One last note about Donny: I don't get the sense of a homer from him -- and that is fantastic. Right now, Donny is in a place where he is describing the action. The more he hangs on that, the better he will be -- instead of throwing opinions and misconceptions around.
