Jon, I miss the old censors on the old board.

Jon, I miss the old censors on the old board.

That’s because you came up with them all... ;-)

    My NCHC picks:

    1. UMD
    2. Denver
    3. North Dakota
    4. WMU
    5. UNO
    6. SCSU
    7. CC
    8. Miami

I think the 12 freshman on UNO’s roster (of 27 total players) will make a difference this season.

I also think St. Cloud will have a hangover this season from losing their last two NCAA tournament first round games to Atlantic Hockey teams. (They might not end up 6th, but I had to put them somewhere since I had UNO fifth).

I’m still unsure about Western Michigan. Sometimes they look great. Other times that team look “ugly” (translation: very average).

The reason I picked North Dakota as high as I did is based on the assumption that they will return to more solid form at some point (the last two seasons certainly didn’t resemble the Hakstol teams of yore).

UMD — with Hunter Shepard back for his 10th season in net — will make a run at a third national championship. ;-)

No. I only found the words that needed censoring. You made most of the substitutions... except replacing 'Montoya' with 'Cuban Sieve'.

Excellent sweep for the Mavs this weekend!  Liked some of the freshman play boyer, Brushett, Abate all played very well imo.

Travis Kothenbeutel is going to be a pest and a hi energy guy.  he was all over the place this weekend.

I am encouraged by the fact that the mavs didn't play down to their competition and blew out a team they were supposed to beat.   so far so good for mike kemp version 2.0 era.   Better test next week against OSU

elsewhere:  uhhh st cloud... was down 4-0 on friday and had to rally for a tie. saturday were up 2-0 and couldn't hold the lead.   a very disturbing way to start off.

mixed results elsewhere with the exception of miami... miami giving up a ton of goals and UNH isn't that good.  my prediction that miami would be better isn't looking too good

out east: anyone check the union jerseys?  they are as bad as their hockey team right now.  Union could be in for a very long year.

As you suggested Quinn, I thought Miami would be better under Bergeron this season. It's still early, but they don't look like they're going to see any significant in the *immediate* post-Blasi era.

The string of successful seasons that program had leading up to the formation of the NCHC was impressive. He just couldn't ever seem to turn the corner (other than the 2014-15 season) after realignment.

Bridget and I had the chance to meet Blasi in 1999 at the Badger Showdown in Milwaukee (we were staying at the same hotel as Miami). Terrific guy. We actually met him on the elevator the night we arrived, and he chatted with us about the Mavs and the Omaha Lancers.

The day we left he and the other coaches were sitting by us having breakfast in the hotel restaurant. He came over and chatted some more.

I know some UNO fans were/are down on Coach Blasi, but he helped that program accomplish a lot of great things during his 20 years.
