Saville

As reported by other parties, Isaiah Saville is USAHockey's Summer Showcase - widely accepted as the tryout camp for the World Juniors.

I'm thrilled to see Omaha have some representation in camp - I believe Chris Holt was the last to be in camp, and Bryce Lampman might have been the last/only Maverick to participate in the WJC.

But... playing in the WJC means Isaiah will miss SIX games: ASU, Maine, and potentially North Dakota.

Now, we're putting the cart before the horse with out goaltending situation. Heck, we are exploring the depths of the unknown with Saville, Roden, and Zab. Who knows how this will turn out in the crease for Omaha. But losing the USHL Goaltender of the year - who the majority of fans are expecting to dominate playing time.

To me, this is something the coaching staff should have anticipated... and maybe fought a bit harder to keep Tomek in the fold.

Going into Alfond and the Ralph with inexperienced and unheralded goaltenders strikes me as an invitation for a long weekend or two.

Yeah tough situation with Saville.  He hasn't made the team yet, but I don't see how you stop him.  Would be better for the team maybe to let him go.

Also, Sustr played WJC, thought that's where Blais recruited him.

Off topic, but was anybody surprised to see McDonald leave?

On MacDonald, I sure was... I was impressed with his defensive efforts. I was hoping that they would put him with a certain someone to improve their number, or, place him with one of the young guys...

I think Roden will see more time in net than some might assume.

Without knowing the story lines behind the scenes, I am just a tad concerned about who we went after.  Not that anyone would say we offered "xyz" and he turned us down, it just seemed like we missed some opportunities.
