are you hooked up with the amature scouting reports? I could get you profiles like the one on pennington if you'd like. not all are that "glowing though" and it might turn a recruit off if he sees negatives. so just for your private edification...

    I’ll DM you about that...

Saw a Stepan and a Blueger in that SSM video.  I'm sure everybody knows another Stepan, and there was a Blueger that played for Mankato, I'm sure related somehow in both cases.

Does anyone have any information on the injury to Isaiah Seville? Left a game on 1/19 due to injury and has not played since.

He's not injured, he's been involved in discussions with Peter Mannino.

    1. Don't even joke about that.

    2. He was recruited by Blais and Gabinet.

    3. Wondering if there is any mention in the OWH article.

The Feb 10 OWH article says " His strong play continued in January until he was sidelined with an upper-body injury three weeks ago. He’s expected to return soon."

I'm still interested to figure out where the 3rd goaltender for next year will come from.

Last year was interesting in the USHL - as there were at least 3 goalies who left the NCAA to return to juniors. Omaha picked Tomek from that group. Bemidji got Zach Driscoll from SCSU via the Lancers. I believe Matt Jurusik (Wisconsin - Sioux City - Michigan Tech) was the other.

I'm not seeing a group like that this year.

There are also interesting stories behind the top two USHL goaltenders that are uncommitted. Both played in the World Juniors this year.

Akira Schmid (Lancers) would have to sit a year and a game, since he played one game in the WHL. That might actually put him in a position for 2020-21 when Tomek graduates.

The other is Roman Durny (Des Moines). I bring him up because he played in Slovakia's U-20 program. Slovakia's U-20 team actually plays as HK Orange 20 in the Slovak 1. Liga - a professional league. Does that render him ineligible for NCAA play?

To be honest, whoever the third goaltender coming in, is likely to be told he will redshirt. This makes it a low-risk signing for the Mavs, but a tough sell. We might be looking at an over-age player in the NAHL, looking for one last chance... or a flyer on a goalie out of the BCHL or AJHL.

The goaltender situation is definitely interesting...

I’d rather we had two freshman goalies in the lineup capable of starting. That is likely a stretch for next season. It’ll more likely be a walk-on who redshirts in 2019-20.

I had wondered about Schmid. Don’t know if the WHL game is a dealbreaker or not (depending on how long the NCAA says he has to sit out).

I don’t know enough about how the NCAA views the various Euro leagues.

I remember when Dennis Bassett suited up for the Lancers in the 97-98 season. He had played 3.5 seasons in the WHL (major juniors). Great goaltender... too bad someone didn’t grab him before his WHL run.

I look at possible injuries and/or slumping goalies, and think it would be wise if UNO had someone who could step in for an extended period of time if necessary.

That might be a luxury not available to the Mavs.

I go back to the years when Jerad Kaufmann served UNO well in net. He wasn’t touted like Eric Aarnio or Jeremie Dupont (who both had solid campaigns in juniors before arriving at UNO), but ended up being “the guy“ in net during those years.

It’d be nice to have someone like that — who could step in at a moment’s notice — and be capable. Maybe that’ll be Tomek next season... hard to say at this point.

I’d like to see the Mavs find a hidden treasure. Not so worried about size, but athletics is a must. Some of these big guys have trouble with movement, side to side and up and down. Need a comfortable gymnast. Confidence in himself a must. Never played the position and I know it’s tough, we need a general back there...
