Anybody hearing anything about the two slots that are open?

I have not heard anything specific.

But I was speaking with someone about whom Gabinet is connected to, that might be an option.

    Their answer: "everyone."

    Throwing this out there.

I know Omaha will run any coach prospect through a process, interviews.

But if there hasn't been an announcement on a known opening, I'm guessing the top candidate is coming from the pro ranks. If it is a coach, then their season isn't over, yet. If it is a scout, the announcement wont be made until July -- after the draft.

still nothing. seems odd to me, with 2 openings you'd think there would be something.

I'm assuming Bennett Hambrook will be promoted from "Director of Player Development" to one of the assistant spots, but that's just a guess on my part.

What happened to the conversation with Chris "are you thinking what I am thinking"? Since it's just the 3 of us, let's get some gossip going!!!

Personally speaking, I wish they'd bring in former Mav, NMU assistant, WMU associate head coach, and current Head USA Scout for the Chicago Blackhawks Rob Facca.

He knows the best talent in the U.S. and did a terrific job recruiting for Walt Kyle at NMU and Andy Murray at WMU — in particular, the WMU recruits he secured were key in the Broncos resurgence in the CCHA and NCHC (which was not easy).

It would continue the trend of having #OldBulls on staff. Facca is also a very personable guy, and I think the players, fans and staff would appreciate that.

I think we need someone with extensive NCAA recruiting experience at this level.

Part of the reason DU has been successful is that Tavis MacMillan and Dallas Ferguson (both former head coaches at UAF) had experience recruiting at a challenging D-1 institution.

I think Jon is on to something.

Facca would definitely check all the boxes (save one). And the delay in announcing would make sense -- as I think the draft (or even July 1) are key dates in his contract with Chicago.

The other name to keep an eye on is also at Chicago as a scout. It's Dan Ellis. That would check the only box Facca doesn't -- where he can replace Rob Coutiurier as goaltending coach.

Gabinet is well-connected. So I wouldn't be shocked to see a scout or coach from another NHL team or affiliate -- maybe without ties to Omaha -- come in. I'm not sure any of us knew who Paul Jerrard was before he arrived... and he was a home run hire.

I usually don't think having a UNO connection should be a huge factor in consideration for any hockey coaching position but both Rob Facca and Dan Ellis have had good success coaching after their UNO careers were done, and unless there's some dark secret about either of them -which I obviously wouldn't know about anyway-I think they would be good additions to the coaching staff.

For me its not hiring them BECAUSE of their UNO connections but hiring them because of what they did after their time at UNO.
