We’re here to talk UNO Hockey… but first, let’s change the subject!

Do you really want me to join you on Zoom?

Yes, let’s talk about your predictions…

Omaha lost both games. Awful plays killed the Mavericks.

    Ahh… Mancini’s pass. Great assist!

Jon is trying so hard not to cry – he’s making himself laugh.

The best part of the 120-foot bank pass to beat Tychonick: Tychonick looked at his partner – who was on the other side of the ice – like it was the partner’s fault.

Niagara’s goaltending was not good. Really, no better than Omaha’s. The difference was the defense around them. The Purple Eagles cleared the second chances, and the goaltender was a little charmed in where rebounds ended up.

Is Jason suggesting that Gabinet is too much of a player’s coach? Also, YES – the system is crap. I don’t like this collapsing defense that leaves us exposed on the weak flank. Need to try something else.

Proctor was awful all weekend. But I think it was in the Mankato game where it looked like he was hurting. Beginning to wonder if he’s not 100%. But with Ludtke out, and only eight defensemen… he’s got to play.

One of the (several) failings since Gabinet has taken over: weak sticks. We need to be strong on the twigs.

What level have you coached, Jason?

Omaha needs a secondary system. Yes, need to ace the primary. But once it gets predictable, you need to show teams something else.

    Niagara Bemidji’d us.

There is a player of the week? Randl had a decent weekend. Fewest mistakes, plus most goals?

You can’t say ‘batshit’ in Jon’s podcast.

Bremer was a factor, both good and bad. Brock is showing a lot of emotion, but he’s taking Joey Abate’s undisciplined penalties. You could see frustration setting in with him.

OK, drifting away from the game. Talking marketing and meaningless things… it’s Omaha, it’s disappointing. Next.

You both just talked through the National Anthem: 1. Unpatriotic. 2. The broadcast day has ended. Sign Off.

    Sousaphone? Try again.

I thought the ‘Omaha’ thing was predicated by the Summit League: Omaha, Kansas City, Fort Wayne.

Jon, let’s do a full podcast on the failings of the Catholic church.

Jason isn’t even talking about the game on ice. Let’s just talk about old rivalries and what Sault Ste. Marie is like. Brace yourself for endless ‘Soo Locks’ references from Terry Leahy.

I do like seeing old CCHA opponents on the schedule. Also, like that we try to grab teams from each conference – though, it’s a bit tougher with us scheduling independents to help them out.

Jason coached high school hockey for 3 years in Colorado. He also coached a select club team for 1 year. And last season he returned to the coaching ranks when he was the assistant for his daughter's 14U team. :-)

My comment about Jason coaching came across as... jerkish.

But, I'm fairly certain that at youth levels Jason was not that demanding of players. It's hearding cats at that age.

High school is a little better, but there are still a lot of distractions and players going through the motions.

My honest input is that Jason is more engaged and educated than your random "shoot it" or "kill him" fan. We all have varying degrees of history, but it's safe to say no one of us is either always correct, nor professionally competent. We are, however, passionate in our convictions and should comment for no other reason than to spark debate!
