CC is the one that scares me the most. Mavs seemed ‘out of sorts’, no wonder based on the events.

Then, the green meanies, possibly 4 in a row if not 5.

No real ‘good’ options among the trio

Yeah... that's the danger of the NCHC. I really don't like any potential playoff matchup. I do think there is a preferred matchup, but I'm not about to call that shot. It wouldn't end well.

After an emotional week the mavs get a split with the cloud.  Friday's game the team didn't do anything really wrong, just they were a bit off in a few places.  Saturday's game the mavs came out with a vengeance and wasted no time getting to work.

I had a lot of doubts about this years team but they have been proving me wrong.  good character on this team  -- I am impressed.

the mavs will either finish 2nd 3rd or 4th depending on next weekends results.  big series with pairwise implications next week at the ralph.  UNO has had success there in the past so hoping for two wins but would not be surprised to see a split.

Feels weird that we have a playoff series at home, but I will take it.

Elsewhere:  You can browse all the twitter comments about the major penalty in fridays DU-WMU game so I won't recap it but something needs to be done about that contact to the head rule.  -- the video replay wasn't working apparently so the call was made after the officials got together and discussed it.  if anyone has a couple hours I would be happy to discuss my findings on this matter.

also: congratulations to DU for another trophy.

The feel good story of UAF continues after that program was left for dead.  it's nice to see them on the doorstep of an NCAA tournament birth.

Minnesota continues to roll right along with an impressive beat down of Ohio state.  I sure hope I don't see their insufferable fans in tampa but that team is really good.

pretty good series in the CCHA between tech and mankato.  congratulations to mike hastings and his group.

Cornell/Harvard/Quinnipiac all get sweeps this weekend.  ECAC playoffs will be interesting to keep an eye on.

Tough to see Latkoczy get the hook. It was two blown coverages, and two impressive plays that cost him. But I think sitting him for the end of Friday allowed Gabinet to go back to him Saturday.

I think it's also a sign that Simon is the starter in the playoffs.

I think we all questioned if this team could compete. As disappointing as Friday was, anything this team has done has been an unexpected surprise. So it's hard to get really down after a result like that.

Welp:  if there was ever a time to get right with the hockey gods the time is now.  mavs played well but UND was just better.  I am very proud of what UNO has accomplished this season, but now it's a win or go home.  Those losses to Niagara and st. Lawrence loom large for UNO in the pairwise.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't very concerned about the upcoming playoff series.  Per Brad schlossman: In the last three months, UND goalie Drew DeRidder has as many shutouts as losses (3). He's 8-3-3 with a .914 save percentage and a 2.18 goals against average. He's currently on the longest unbeaten streak of his career (6 games).

Uno also is a little thin at forward:  hope to get glynn back at least.  I think Mueller may be out -- from what I have been reading it didn't sound good.

I fully expect to be at baxter on sunday.  No predictions here just hoping that the universe is favorable.

Elsewhere:  gritty performance by st. cloud.  Saturday cloud played without three injured defensemen: Dylan Anhorn (out for season), Jack Peart (out for weekend), Ondrej Trejbal (out for weekend). Huskies have one win in their last nine games (prior to saturday) as injuries on the back end pile up. (also per schlossman)

per @lets go du:  apparently Chrona had a walking boot on this weekend:  they should have no problem with miami but I'm sure they would like to get chrona back for the ncaa tounament.

Western should have no problem with CC, although CC will be a tough out.

couple game 3's in the big10 today.  I like notre dame and ohio state to advance.

between the nacho talk podcast (you shall hear from my lawyer!) and the mavpuck cast plenty of resources for mav news, but you should always come to the message board first!

sioux sports even beats the mavs when it comes to posting..  sad times!

Yes, very disappointing. I was particularly heartbroken at the result Saturday. Couple of really bad calls, but the real issue had to do with the boys play in the second and third, a lot of give aways. Seemed very disconnected, poor passing, passive defense at times, etc. No additional injuries, so that was good. I don't think it mattered who we played in the first round. Always struggle with CC (and that goaltender can steal games), UMD is on the upswing and they have a coach that wins playoff games. UND, we seem to get up for (throw out the 4-1 start, our freshmen's first NCHC game). Now just have to play perfect hockey and smother their studs. What would be better than to end their season at Baxter?

the Tony Granato watch has finally ended.  (we have been waiting all season for the inevitable and it has happened)

Interesting to see the names 'Badger Insider' came up with for the job in Madison.

They think they can poach Carle or Larson from their alma maters.

Hastings came up as maybe taking on a larger role -- and he might be a fit for the cut-throat world of the B1G.

    ...and then Steve Rohlik.

Well it wasn't the ending we hoped for but I think the team exceeded my expectations this year.   that short handed goal took the life out of the team and the building.

for a team that was picked to finish 7th they were playing with house money.   hopefully the mavs can eventually make it out of the first round -- someday like this century would be nice.

(I think things went south when @redarmyomaha took his twitter account private for a day  -- I squarely blame him for the bad mojo)

should be interesting in st. paul next weekend.   for those mav fans making the trip -- we will be in section 106 row 18 seats 1-4 -- staying at the hampton downtown.

come by and say hello or just reach out 402-650-0972

finally:  thanks for reading and commenting on the thread this season.  shout out to those in the twitterverse @secretagentmav @intlmav @unocowbell @gohuskieswooooo @letsgodu and even @ susannahdunn who I don't really care for but she occasionally used to have some good tweets before the account was locked.

one wish for next year is to get this message board more active -- lets unleash the fury! and Go Mavs!
