No argument from me on either point, Quinn.
Gadowsky would have been an interesting chase. Would he have come here?
My only counterpoint would be that once Gabinet came in as an assistant, we all knew he was the heir apparent. That would have been a 400-pound gorilla in the room for anyone coming in to Omaha. I still think that once Blais made his 'early' exit, the only way to buy Gabinet the two or three years I think he needed would have been for Kemp to step back behind the bench. I don't think any other coach would have accepted the position with Gabinet in the shadows.
As for the player profile, there needs to be some dynamic.
We have a set type of player, and that makes the players 'interchangeable parts.' Great for depth, not great for strategy.
Last year, we had Ward. That was it. We spent four years waiting for Weiss to reach his potential. It never happened.
Anyone stepping up to be a secondary or tertiary scoring threat to create matchup issues. Or maybe the strategy is to roll four identical lines, hoping opponents don't have the depth to offset that. Problem is, it makes us predictable.
So, I agree. Something needs to change on the roster. It's good to have a style of player, but you need players to separate from the pack.
(I'm going to highlight this in a post later today.)
