    UNO Hockey sophomore forward Tyler Weiss is featured as the #2 play in the “NCHC Top 5 Plays of the Week” (presented by TRIA Orthopaedic Center) for “Week 4” of the 2019-20 season. 

    The unassisted goal — at the 12:52 mark in the 2nd period of UNO’s Nov. 1 game at Alaska Anchorage — was one of two goals for Weiss on the night.

    UNO sophomore forward Tyler Weiss has received a number of accolades from fans for his *sick* unassisted goal at Alaska Anchorage on Nov. 1, 2019 (at the 12:52 mark in the 2nd period).

    Jason and Jon discussed it on the Nov. 4 episode of the Mavpuckcast.

    The @NCAAIceHockey account took notice and made it one of their “Plays of the Week” on Twitter:

    Freshman defenseman Brandon Scanlin was named “Rookie of the Week” as part of the “Bauer NCHC Players of the Week” for Oct. 28 - Nov. 3, 2019. 

    Scanlin netted his first collegiate goal in UNO’s series at Alaska-Anchorage on Oct. 31 - Nov. 1. He also had a pair of assists in the series.

    It’s a new week and that means a new hockey podcast!

    This week Jason and Jon discuss the University of Nebraska at Omaha Hockey team’s recent trip up to Alaska to play the Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves hockey team.

    They also talk about whether the UNO Hockey press conferences should be streamed live (as they were in the past), and look the current state of the eight NCHC member schools.

    Finally, the two give their picks for the upcoming series vs. Wisconsin at Baxter Arena on Nov. 8-9.

    NCHC Marketing and Communications Coordinator Paige Shacklett has an insightful feature on the NCHC website this week titled “Character Is Destiny” — focusing on the University of Nebraska at Omaha Hockey team’s 12-man freshman class. 

    Shacklett writes: “If the Greek saying, ‘character is destiny,’ proves true, the Mavericks are setting themselves up for glory.”

    The article delves into the mindset of UNO Hockey Head Coach Mike Gabinet and includes commentary from forward Joey Abate and goalie Isaiah Saville.

    #HockeyHalloween! Following a bye week, the Mavericks made the long trek to Alaska on Tuesday to prepare for their unusual Thursday/Friday series versus Alaska Anchorage. Both games begin at 10:07 p.m. Omaha time.
