On this week’s episode we change things up a bit an introduce a new “quick topic” segment called “The Shootout” — which includes a discussion of the UNO Maverick Hockey team’s recently unveiled third jersey for the 25th anniversary season.
Junior Isaiah Saville — a consistent presence in net for the Omaha Hockey team — earned Bauer NCHC Goaltender of the Week honors to open UNO’s 2021-22 collegiate hockey campaign. In UNO’s series versus Lake Superior State on Oct. 2-3, Saville had a .907 save percentage and 1.95 goals-against average against the Lakers. He also recorded a 3-0 shutout in the Oct. 3 game. Some of the MavPuck.com faithful in our Facebook Group (and via DM) wondered about season tickets for the 2021-22 season. Specifically, they wondered what the procedure was going to be since the university isn't supplying fans with physical tickets this season. A new season of UNO Hockey is upon us, and we’re back for the forth season of the Mavpuckcast! On the season debut, we talk about the upcoming schedule for the 2021-22 season, some of the protocols that will be in place for games at Baxter Arena this season, and talk about the recent elevation of Mike Kemp as Interim Athletic Director in the wake of Trev Alberts’s departure.
The University of Nebraska at Omaha Hockey program unveiled the 2021-22 schedule with a thread of fan videos on the university’s @OmahaHKY Twitter account. Each participant (including @MavPuck — see below) revealed each individual home and road series this season, and mentioned their favorite UNO Hockey memory. A big ‘thank you’ to the university for inviting us to participate.
