Good confidence builder, too bad about the shutout being lost. I really liked the way the freshmen played, all of them. At center, Teemu, Abate and White Claw played well. Primeau looked a bit winded in the third. Plays were well executed save for fanning on 5 low slot opportunities. Proctor played extremely well.

That was a great season opener for the team.

Successful teams take advantage of good matchups. That's exactly what UNO did in the first tilt against Alabama-Huntsville.

While it is still a work in progress, I liked the hustle and work ethic on the ice.

Ryan Brushett continues to get a lot of ice time. He is a solid puck handler who seems to have good awareness and puts the puck where it needs to be.

I agree about Proctor. If the d-corps keeps developing the next couple months, they'll be a force down the stretch. I also think John Schuldt is starting to come into his own.

This group of freshman (so far) reminds me of the 2004-05 class that Coach Kemp brought in back in the day. After two difficult seasons (02-03 and 03-04), that batch of recruits turned things around quickly with decent skill and hard work.

It'll be interesting to see if we get to see Alex Roy tonight. I liked the looks of him in the exhibition on Monday.

Overall, the team had a solid night. They just look a lot more comfortable than last season's incarnation of the Mavericks.

Bridget and I were honored (and stunned) to be recognized as "Season Ticket Holders of the Game" last night.

When Reece (an in-game marketing employee) asked us before the game if we wanted to come sit on the bench during warmups, we thought it was for some sort of promotion.

It was cool to get to go down there — we are truly touched. Thank you, UNO!

They Should have made the admin re-create his infamous paper airplane toss during the michigan state series after they got married.

I still wake up in cold sweats and have nightmares about that throw.....

I'm so glad you two were around for the on-ice paper airplane toss at the Western Michigan game on our wedding day (Oct. 23, 2004). ;-)

FYI... Bridget and I didn't get to fold the planes. Our competition folded them for us (two other guys... I have no idea who they were).

I have a picture of that around here somewhere... when I find it I'll share it!
