On our latest FULL VIDEO episode of the Mavpuckcast, we discuss the University of Nebraska at Omaha Hockey program’s recent sweep of Long Island University. In “The Shootout Segment” we discuss some interesting tidbits about the UNO Hockey program – including the start of a month-long discussion on ideas to fill Omaha’s Baxter Arena for games. We cap the episode with our predictions for the upcoming series against NCHC foe Miami (OH) RedHawks on Nov. 5-6, 2021.

    Hello overactor!

It’s a mental game Omaha hasn’t figured out. They shouldn’t show up thinking they should lose. They shouldn’t show up thinking they should win. They need to show up knowing they will win. That’s what great programs do. Don’t be complacent, be committed.

Do we owe Dave Starman anything royalties for ‘all you can eat?’

Again, the players need to get up for every game. No matter the opponent, be excited, be ready.

Wait… so we thinking Friday was competitive, and it ended up a blowout. That’s how it should be. We want to come out on top of competitive games – and win going away.

I still question starting Roden. Sad to see his shutout streak in season debuts end. Ride Saville.

Was it a bit of a let down from the night before? The response was good. How would it be against a Miami or North Dakota? Will it snowball in conference play?

See above. Great programs assert themselves. Think of how North Dakota comes in here. Think of what Denver has done to us. They don’t take anything for granted.

Player of the week. Ward, or we riot. I think we’re just wasting time needlessly talking about Ward.

How opponents never figured out to cover Pope on the PP is beyond me. Jordan had that role, but wasn’t as effective at it. Conley is in that roll, now – and he can’t seem to connect of a one-timer. That said, Omaha is too predictable on the PP.

Oh, twizzlers… game on with this video. Jon just dinged (literally) Jason for getting a name wrong.

Scanlin has been good, solid. I feel like this season we’re only noticing defensemen for offensive contributions. Hoping defensive play will stand out a bit more against conference foes.

Chick-fil-A nuggets? You realize that’s just the parts that fall off the chicken sandwiches.

Can wait for my tribute video.

I don’t think the Knights were ‘Ak-Sar-Ben Knights’ in the 1960s.

Jason can’t be a true fan then.

Fill Baxter Arena? Is this going to be a glass-half-empty/glass-half-full argument?

    Jason wants food-motivated fans.

My idea? Keep winning.  Television commercials can’t hurt.

You actually believed something on WOWT, Jon?

Jason’s right. Hard to predict. Need to bury Miami. Better than half the league? Better than half the NCAA? Miami has a mental edge over us. We can’t drop points to them. These are the games Omaha must win.

Discipline will be key through the conference season. Stay out of the box. Don’t give anyone a chance. Take advantage of our own.

My gut says: Miami sweeps us. I wish I could be optimistic for at least a split.

Wait… this was a prepared look?

    Go Mavs.
